Seniors Party!!!! DEC 19th 2008

First of all I would like for you all to meet Fran (in the red) and Sandy(in the black). Sandy was the one telling everyone about what we did and how we received blankets from all over the country. I was NOT suppose to be up there as they knew I was to scared to do it and of course look where I ended up at! Can you tell I am scared? LOL
You see all the bags on the floor? these are our Lapghans, part of them:)

Next I would like for you to meet the Birthday kids! The gentleman is 96 years young and the Lady is 84! Sorry I forgot to get their names

Look at all the people that showed up! I was a little surprised since the weather was so bad

It had started raining the night before and just keep raining! But it didn't stop the party:)

No way they were all here and wanting to get down and party with Santa and do a little Dancing also:)

They all look so happy now. and everyone keep coming up to me and saying thank you, thank you, thank you! and just could not believe that people all over the country would do this for them!! It really was Amazing and with out all of you this would never have been Possible.

Now of course no Christmas Party would be complete without telling Santa what we want for Christmas:) You know what I wished for?? For each and every one of you to have a very Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

2009 Charity Project Praying for a 200 Blanket Goal!!

Welcome everyone to our 2009 Charity Challenge
This year I would so love to deliver 200 Blankets to the
"Victory Junction Gang Camp"

Victory Junction Gang opened in June 2004. The Camp is a year-round camp that serves children, ages 6 to 16, with a variety of health issues. During the summer, the Camp offers week-long, disease-specific sessions with up to 128 kids per session. During the fall, winter and spring, family weekends are offered with 32 families per weekend. no child or family has to incur the cost of attending Victory Junction. The children served at Victory Junction are not able to attend normal summer camps due to their unique medical needs.

Each camper at Victory Junction takes home a hand-made afghan as a souvenir from camp.
  • we will be doing 6" & 12" Squares. (This will be a great on for the ladies that love doing the basic 6" granny square)
  • The afghans should be knitted or crocheted with bright, cheerful colors! Our camper unit colors are blue, green, yellow and red and are great choices for afghans! any of the Bright cheerful colors
  • There are no specific design requirements, you can be as creative as you like!(PLEASE!! NO BIG HOLES!)
  • The afghans should be 35-40 inches wide by 45-50 inches long.
  • Round Ripples should be 45 -48 inches across
In addition to an afghan, each camper will also receive a hand-made camp teddy bear or a Vic the Horse mascot.

Here is the link for all you need to know about the camp:
http://www.victoryjunction.org/aa_he...07_sewing.html

This is a Project that is not really known about to much outside of the NASCAR Family! SO I really do hope and Pray that this will help them and also help get the word out to such a great place that really helps the kids have a great and safe vacation in their life's!!

As in 2008 I will have my friend Sandy (who we are now calling Dusty) here in town helping me with all the picture taking, sewing and storing again (think I need to tell her?) or surprise her

I will be taking our first load down to the camp in May when I will get to meet Carol there

She is the one that gave me this Idea for this year! Thank you so much Carol!!
This would be such a dream come true to be able to take 100 then and then another 100 at the end of the year

so are we up for this challenge? will you all come along with me again in 2009? and lets show everyone what a great Bunch of crocheters & knitters we have here on the Internet

here is the thread I started over at Crochetville and in POST #3 you will fine our Team Button for anyone that would like to use it on your blogs! Thank you Tammy "teakaycee" for making the button for us

Hugs,
sissie

Lapghan #105

This Lapghan is made with squares that" judianne" from crochetville back in April. She was sending me the Blue Squares to help with the Lapghan in post 104 but the blue just didn't look right so I laid them aside till:) I made the white squares to go with her blue squares and this is what we got:) Thank you "Judianne" for helping me with the lapghans:)

Hugs,
sissie

Lapghan #104

This Lapghan was sewn together by Dusty (sandy in town) with squares that were donated back in April by "teaLady" from over on the Ville. we were 4 short at the time and could not find the colors she had used and she had used all of hers to make these! so "Judianne" from the ville also had some navy and offered to make the ones I needed. well when they got here they just didn't look right with these colors so we waited:) well the other day when i took these squares over to Dusty's to see what we could do (as we are now down to the end and trying to match up the rest of the squares i have here) she looks at them and says I have this off white to match!:)) so I whiped up the 4 squares while I was there and then left her to finish it LOL
great team work here:) Thanks TesLady for the squares and thank Dusty for all the hard work you have done this year helping me:)

Hugs,
sissie

P.S. "Judianne yours is next:))
